Summer Fun Day

With Adams new job, and money being a bit tight we didn't have any fun vacations planned or really ANY plans to do this summer. But we decided we needed to at least have one summer 'fun day'. So we gave the girls a list of possible choices which were, go to the lake, go riding in the mountains, go to the water park, or go to the zoo. The girls decided on the zoo, so Adam took the day off and we went. Adam took us to lunch first, at a restaurant in Salt Lake that he had went to once with some guys from work, it was a buffet, so the girls though it was just amazing. It was pretty yummy, but I cant even remember the name.
The zoo was having a "Zoo-rasic" theme this month. (it was clear back in the beginning of July, soooo behind) We walked in and saw this dinosaur, she had a couple of babies with her too, some were in the bushes, and they were all moving, and making sounds, the girls thought it was so neat!
Next we walked around in an exhibit they had. There was this fossil of a dinosaurs foot print, it was huge! The girls measured their arms up to it.

We took a sneak peek at the elephants really fast before we headed up another direction, we would be back though. (they are my fav)

Zack thought everything was pretty cool.

There is an ostrich in this picture, that when a zoo worker walked in to the adjoining cage, started flapping his wings and going crazy, it was something else, the girls, especially Audrey thought it was hilarious.

We came to the giraffes, they were so funny looking, for some reason I was fascinated with them. The girls were really excited too, last time we were at the zoo, they didn't have the giraffes out for the public. The girls walked up the stairs to watch the zookeepers feed them, it was so cool to see.

I stayed down on the lower level with Zack, who wasn't so sure what to think, I loved seeing him trying to look up to see them. It was making me laugh. I wish I knew what was going on in his head.
We walked back towards where we started, and there was a bird show going on, and the girls wanted to watch. So Adam took the girls and went to watch. While they did that I went over to the elephants. They were eating, along with baby Suri. (not sure if she is still considered a baby or not though). The big male would knock some of  the straw done to the ground for her to eat, it was so cute!

After the girls had enough of the bird show, we went over to the carousel, Audrey wanted to go on it so bad, and of course Adam gave her what she wanted.
Whitney got on the eagle.

Audrey got on the wolf.

They had these really cool horses made out of stumps of wood, I'm going to try and make some of mine own one day.

After the zoo we decided that since we were in Salt Lake City, we would take the kiddo's over to ride the rail trains, to show them where Adam works, and kinda what he does. (Adam got a job working for UTA, as a sign and signalman, basically an electrician) The girls were beyond excited.
The first train we got on was one of the brand new ones, and we had the entire section all to ourselves. The girls had to sit in almost every seat on the train. Zack was in heaven, he thought it was so cool, he had a smile on his face almost the whole time. Adam took us over to see the big Front Runner train. I have to admit, it was ginormous!

How cute is this picture? I love it!

After we saw the big train, we jumped back on Trax, and headed over to the gateway, where we found some dinner. Then we got back on and headed over to Temple Square. The first time my girls have been there.
They thought it was amazing, rightfully so. I have been there lots, and I still think it is amazing.

It was a hot day, so the fountain was very attractive to the girls.

We walked around for a while, and went all the way through the visitors center, which we all thought was really neat. Zack amazed us, it was probably one of the longest days of his life so far, and he was absolutely great. With only a few moments of grouchiness. What a boy.

I love these three people, more than anything in the world, besides their daddy.

This picture is so dear to me, love it.
We got back on Trax, and headed back to the car, grateful we got to spend such a wonderful day together.
